The Visual Arts Alliance of Nashville (VAAN) is a non-profit organization promoting visual arts locally, statewide and regionally through education, exhibitions and advocacy. The goals of VAAN are to: raise the level of awareness of visual art in the community; to develop and present juried and invitational exhibits; to create a visual arts network, programs and opportunities; establish a contemporary visual arts center; provide advocacy for arts issues and grant information. Membership is open to all persons who recognize the contribution of art to the development of a vital society.

NASHVILLE ARTIST GUILD

The Nashville Artist Guild is a non-profit organization made up of professional artists living in the greater Nashville area. The Guild endeavors to give the community a view of high quality visual art and to provide art-oriented educational programs that are open to the public. The Guild also establishes an artists' network for the exchange of ideas and the support of art-related goals.

NASHVILLE CALLIGRAPHERS GUILD

The Nashville Calligraphers Guild was formed in 1981 to foster continued study, practice, and use of calligraphy among its members, and to encourage community awareness of the art of calligraphy. To this end, the Guild meets five times a year, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors workshops and related activities. Meetings are open to the public and are held on the second Saturday of January, March, May, September, and November at Nashville State Technical Institute. Membership is open to anyone interested in calligraphy.

POSITION EAST
Visual Artists of East Nashville

Formed in 1992, Position East is a collective of artists who make their homes in East Nashville. Primary goals of the group include promoting a positive awareness of East Nasvhille, providing a social and professional support group, and developing new opportunities for art exhibition and sale. Members of Position East and other individual artists develop a theme-based title for an exhibit and agree to create at least one art work related to the theme. Members take responsibility for the production and promotion of the exhibition. The artists work with area realtors using an East Nashville home that is currently on the market and vacant as the exhibit site.
